JETR is an App designed specifically for pilots and flight attendants to improve layover quality of life in many ways. Aircrew are always looking for the best places to eat and drink while on layovers everywhere. However, there are many challenges that we run into while looking for great places to enjoy on layovers. Too much information and too many options quite often present aircrew with a frustrating problem. Between the plethora of travel apps like Yelp, Trip Advisor, Fork and Open Table along with Google & Apple Maps, Facebook and Facebook Groups, pilots and flight attendants waste a ton of time aimlessly searching for good places to eat while on layovers. If you are looking for a single source of great information, then JETR is for you. At JETR, we have spent over a year curating a database of great food and drink options layover cities, network wide. All of the recommended places to go found in JETR are AIRCREW RECOMMENDED and/or verified through various means and are certain to not disappoint. In addition to providing great places to eat and drink, JETR offers many other features that are sure to improve your layover quality of life. Features such as a City Events page and Live Music page that will alert aircrew of fun events happening while you are in town. A City Tips page provides great layover information, such as great shopping areas, walking, hiking, running options and much more. JETR aims to become the Go-To platform for traveling pilots and flight attendants across the airline industry to DISCOVER and SHARE everything you need to have BETTER LAYOVERS!
The reason most of us work in the airline industry, besides to make $$, is the opportunity to travel the world and take advantage of the benefits of being an airline employee. After conducting a survey of over a thousand aircrew, both pilots and flight attendants, nearly everyone surveyed was not very satisfied with their layover quality of life. This problem is the genesis of JETR. As aircrew, we spend a huge chunk of our life traveling across the world, both internationally and domestically, but unfortunately most of the time, we don't take full advantage of the opportunities we have. JETR aims to be a one-stop App that will improve your layover quality of life at every opportunity. We have developed many features within the app that will absolutely improve your layover experience. If there is something you'd like to see added to the App, just let us know, and if we can find a way to include it into the app, we will. JETR is founded by aircrew and we strive to make it the go-to source of great layover information for aircrew across the industry.
JETR was developed for airline aircrew. Specifically pilots and flight attendants. As traveling professionals, we saw a need for something more than what was currently available. I (NickD) have been working for my airline for nearly 10 years and found myself frequently frustrated with my layover experiences. Something as simple as finding a good place to eat on a layover seemed to be too common of a struggle... especially when I began flying internationally to cities like Paris, Rome and Athens. In cities like those, the hard part is deciding between the hundreds if not thousands of options throughout the city. Using popular apps like Yelp or Trip Advisor became increasingly frustrating because those apps are littered with sponsored adds and fake reviews which clutter the experience. Additionally, amongst our community, there is a wealth of knowledge of great restaurants on layovers world wide, but no place or platform that captures the information. JETR is an actively managed data base of all the great information aircrew have to share for layovers network wide.
However, JETR isn't only for aircrew. JETR can be used by ALL airline employees and even business travelers who are looking for the best information for laying over is cities world wide.
JETR is designed to improve layover quality of life in many ways.
First and foremost is the "Places To Go" feature. Whether your layover is short or long, the one thing that is consistent on every layover is the desire to have a great meal. The Places To Go feature provides a curated list of the best, AIRCREW RECOMMENDED places to eat and drink in every city in the app. This will save JETR users time and energy trying to figure out where to go eat for a great meal. After a long day of flying, sometimes you are too tired to spend the mental energy trying to figure out where to go. JETR will lead you to places that are tried and true. Additionally, JETR is working on creating relationships with the places to go featured in the app to offer aircrew discounts which will save aircrew money..which would be a nice benefit as well:)
Secondly, JETR contains a "City Page" and "Live Music" page that will open your eyes to what's happening while you are in town for your layover. On many layovers, you have more time to take advantage of and those layovers are the best times to get out and do fun stuff. By using the "City Page" and "Live Music" pages, you will become aware of a local wine festival or a live concert that you may have missed in the past. It can be very frustrating to find out there was a fun event happening in the city while you were in town, only to have missed it because you "just didn't know".. JETR will help with that. I've seen The Scorpions in Athens, Pearl Jam in Paris, Mellencamp in Seattle, Motley Crüe in Milan and look forward to many more fun times on layovers in the future.
Next is the "City Tips" page. This is where JETR is compiling all the things you want to know about your layover city. Information like the cities transportation system, city parks, good shopping areas, walking and running areas, unique local food and much more. Also, insider tips like local tour guides that cater to aircrew, local spas that offer crew discounts or tips on what to bring home.. like the salted butter in Paris:). This feature will become a wealth of great info for aircrew.
Another valuable feature in JETR is the "Top Things To Do" feature. This is a straight forward link to learn about what the top attractions are in your layover city. Many times we find ouselves in cities we've never been to before and this feature will open your eyes to what is unique to the city and different things you can do to have a great layover. Now go have a great layover!!
Use case example #1.
You just finished flying for the day, you're on the van ride to the hotel and you're hungry. A member of the crew asks if you want to grab dinner and a cocktail. Of course you do, but where to go? Simply open JETR, select you layover city, and at your finger tips you'll have a short list of aircrew recommended places to go, with links to the places information and walking directions. No longer do you have to search the black hole of the internet and various sources of information on line. JETR has done the work for you.
Use case example #2.
You got a great trip to (Fill in the blank city) with a nice 18 hour layover. It'll be your first time laying over in city X and you want to go do something fun. You can use the City Page and Live Music feature to see if any event is happening while you are in town, like a wine festival, local music event or anything else that catches your attention. Use case example #3.
You're working on your bid for the next month. You can use JETR to locate events in cities you would like to layover in so you can bit for trips that will get you there for the event. An example might be that you know Taylor Swift is on her mega world tour and you'd give anything to see here play anywhere in Europe. JETR can help you figure that out by opening a Live Music page to see what cities she'll be in that you can bid to layover in. This is how you can create great layover experiences. With JETR, you can preplan great layovers that you would previously not even had thought about. Now go plan a great layover!!
Of course you can. There are many resources available to find places to eat. There's Google and Apple Maps, Facebook Groups, Yelp, Trip Advisor, Open Table, Fork, Restaurants.com and many more. The problem is that there is TOO MUCH INFORMATION and TOO MANY OPTIONS. Many of the internet resources are full of sponsored ads and/or are for commercial/chain restaurants.
JETR has done the work for you to select the best places to eat and drink. JETR primarily uses AIRCREW RECOMMENDATIONS for building our data base of places to go. Every restaurant or bar that is in JETR has either been aircrew recommended or is a place that has received fantastic reviews from reputable sources.
Additionally, even if you are a foodie and have your own favorite places to go on your layovers, you'll likely be pleasantly surprised at the options you find in JETR that will broaden your horizons on layovers!
Absolutely! In fact that is the whole purpose of the app. JETR is meant to be used as a platform for aircrew to share information on great places to go and things to do on layovers. There are multiple ways to share information. First, you can click the "Share Your Tips" feature on the JETR Home Page. There you can submit information that will be received by JETR and then added to the appropriate place in the app. Secondly, you can share information via the various "Chat Groups" in the app. Every layover city has a "Food & Bev", a "Things To Do" and a "Check-In Meet-Up" Chat Group. As JETR builds our user base, these chart groups will become more and more beneficial. The more users who share information, the more useful these groups will become. The Chat Group title is self explanitory... if you know of a great place to go in Denver or any layover city, you can post in the Denver Food & Bev Chat Group so all other aircrew laying over in Denver will see your pointers.
